Administrative regulations take into consideration complex and technical issues that are not addressed in our state statues. The process of adopting administrative regulations allows the public to provide input into how the laws passed by the legislature should be implemented.
The purpose of workshops and public hearings is to solicit comments from interested persons on general topics that maybe addressed in the proposed regulations. The workshops and public hearings will be conducted in accordance with the Open Meeting Law (NRS 241.020).
Workshops and public hearings can occur during regular meetings of the State Board of Education or the Commission of Professional Standards. In addition, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, representing the department, may consider proposed regulations during and NDE Rulemaking Workshop and Public Hearing.
