Nevada Department of Education's Deputy Superintendents'

Deborah H. Cunningham is Deputy Superintendent for Business and Support Services at the Nevada Department of Education. She is a member of the Department’s Executive Team and oversees NDE offices of Finance and Planning, Accounting and Auditing, Information Technology and Child Nutrition.  Her office’s mission is to provide the key support services to schools and the Department that are critical to achieving the Department’s vision of success through learning.  Deborah serves as the Department’s legislative liaison and leads a team to improve management integrity in the Department.

Dr. Cunningham is a distinguished leader in school finance who comes to Nevada from the New York State Education Department where she worked as Coordinator of the Office of Educational Management Services. In this capacity she oversaw financial management and fiscal accountability for school districts and BOCES. 
Deborah received a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona and is certified as a New York State school district administrator. She has served on the board of the American Education Finance Association, the Journal of Education Finance and the New York State Rural Schools Association. She is currently President of the Association of Education Finance and Policy.
