Nevada State Writing Assessment

The Office of Assessment, Program Accountability, and Curriculum is pleased to release the first set of formative writing tools designed to support implementation of the Common Core Standards and prepare teachers and students for the spring 2015 Smarter Balanced assessments. Below you will find the Evaluation Guides for fifth and eighth grades that include rubrics designed by Smarter Balanced, teacher checklists that support the rubrics, student writing guides for the three modes of writing in the Common Core Standards, teaching tips for using the evaluation guides, and a glossary of writing terms.
