Steve Constantino, the Superintendent of Schools in Williamsburg, Va., and Oscar E. Cruz, President & CEO of Families In Schools (FIS) will highlight the 2016 Nevada Family Engagement Summit.

This year’s Summit, titled “Pathways to Progress for Student Achievement” will take place Saturday, October 15 at Northwest Career and Technical Academy (8200 W. Tropical Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89149).

Constantino will give the inaugural State Senator Debbie Smith keynote address at this year’s summit. The late Senator Smith, who dedicated her life to improving PreK-12 education in Nevada, will be honored.

“The Nevada Family Engagement Summit is a one day event dedicated to family engagement capacity building and best practices,” said Cynthia Santos, Education Programs Professional at the Nevada Department of Education. “Parents, educators, community members and district leaders will come together to learn how to create and strengthen family-school partnerships. Additionally, participants will network with local and national family engagement experts and practitioners.”

Participants will have more than 41 workshops to choose from. Presentations will be provided by nationally recognized groups such as Families in Schools, the National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement, and WestEd.
