What: Steve Canavero, Ph.D, Nevada Superintendent of Public Instruction, will testify on proposed regulations of the Every Student Succeeds Act in front of a subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and the Workforce.

Details: The hearing is titled “Supplanting the Law and Local Education Authority through Regulatory Fiat.” In his testimony, Canavero will outline steps Gov. Sandoval and the Nevada Legislature have taken to promote equity and improve student achievement. He will give his concerns about how current proposed regulations on the supplement not supplant provisions in ESSA could make equity and education reforms underway in Nevada more difficult.
