Competency-Based Education Network


Overview

At the end of the 79th Legislative session, the passage of Assembly Bill 110 creates the opportunity for schools in Nevada to participate in a competency-based education pilot program. This pilot program will allow schools to explore the use of competency-based education in classrooms.

    What is Competency-Based Education (CBE)?

    A system of instruction by which a pupil advances to a higher level of learning when the pupil demonstrates mastery of a concept or skill, regardless of the time, place or pace at which the pupil progresses.

        The application period for the Nevada Competency-Based Education Network and pilot program is OPEN. If you are interested in applying for this opportunity to explore and help advance competency-based education in Nevada.

        To allow for all interested school sites to apply for this exciting opportunity, a letter of interest is not required.

        Applications must be submitted by 5 pm April 11, 2018.

        Timeline of the Competency-Based Education (CBE) Network and pilot program:

        • CBE Network and pilot program application submission period: February 2018 - April 2018.
        • Review of CBE Network and pilot program applications: May 2018.
        • Notification of selected CBE pilot sites: by end of May 2018.
