Dave Cook Memorial Scholarship

A fourth generation Nevadan, Dave Cook was a retired emeritus awarded college professor of business and economics who taught for nearly thirty years. He served on the Nevada Commission for Post-Secondary Education as an appointee of the Governor and as an elected member of the Nevada State Board of Education. First elected in 1988 as a member of the Carson City School District Board of Trustees, his contributions to Nevada and his enduring service to public education will be missed.

To honor Dave Cook, the Elaine P. Wynn and Family Foundation in partnership with the Nevada Public Education Foundation is funding a four-year scholarship for a Nevada-resident freshman pursuing a full-time degree in education at any NV System of Higher Education (NSHE) college or university, beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year. The Dave Cook Scholar will pledge to teach for 3 years in Nevada upon graduation.

To be eligible to apply, students will have a minimum 3.2 GPA and demonstrate financial need and be a Nevada-resident freshman pursuing a full-time degree in education.

The scholarship can be used for tuition, books and fees directly related to the Scholar’s program and will be subject to annual renewal where the Scholar will be subject to verify full-time attendance and carry a 3.2 GPA.
