Constitution Day
Fellow Educators,
Thank you for visiting the
new Constitution Day Page! On December 8,
2004, Public Law 108-447 was signed into law,
requiring schools receiving federal funds to
inform and instruct all students on the
importance of the signing of the United States
Constitution on September 17, 1787. Nevada is
taking an active role in complying with this law
and the education of students across the state.
NDE is aware of the importance and
implementation of the social studies content
standards regarding the Constitution but special
recognition will only serve to enhance our State
social studies and allow students to see that
being an informed citizen goes beyond the social
studies curriculum and classroom.
On Thursday, September
17, 2009, each teacher in Nevada is
asked to inform and instruct their students
about the importance of the United States
Constitution. The following information and
resources have been designed to help Nevada
teachers with Public Law 108-447.
On this page you will find
lesson plans designed to inform Nevada students
about the United States Constitution. These
plans vary in topic, length, and grade
appropriateness. Please use any or all lesson
plans and websites to help plan your particular
grade level lesson.
