TeacherLine

PBS TeacherLine is funded by a grant from the U.S Department of Education for the purpose of helping preK-12 teachers acquire the skills they need to prepare students for a successful future. Teacherline provides online professional development through facilitated and standards-based courses, supportive and collaborative learning communities, and exemplary Internet-based resources. Courses are facilitated by specially trained educators, combining the best of face-to-face professional development with the best of online instructional design.

Two partnerships serve the unique needs of teachers in Northern and Southern Nevada:

Northern Nevada TeacherLine is a partnership between Channel 5, the Washoe County School District, and PBS. The aim is to deliver online courses to fit your schedule. The first course begins with a two-hour face-to-face meeting and all subsequent class time is completed online. Courses run for six weeks and require approximately 15 - 20 hours to complete. Students who successfully complete the course earn one inservice credit from the Nevada Department of Education or the Washoe County School District. Southern Nevada TeacherLine is supported by the Clark County School District in partnership with KLVX Public Television in Las Vegas, Nevada. Offerings include video-rich classes in which you can explore pedagogical issues and strategies to integrate technology into curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
