EDUCATOR LICENSE TRANSACTIONS ARE CURRENTLY ONLINE
Dear Nevada Educator,
Following are four important updates from the Department of Education.
As you are probably aware, Governor Steve Sisolak has declared a statewide state of emergency due to the COVID-19 virus, and has asked Nevadans to take steps to limit possible exposure to the virus. With this in mind, the Department of Education (NDE) is taking certain measures to protect the health of the public and Department staff, and would like to share these with you.
While NDE offices will remain open in Las Vegas and Carson City, all educator licensure services business will be conducted online until further notice. In order to keep everyone safe during this time, most educator licensure transactions may be conducted via our online licensing system, OPAL, which can be accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from any computer at https://online.nvdoe.org/#/.
A secure drop box for document delivery has also been installed outside the door to the Las Vegas licensure office so that transcripts and other documents can be dropped off, and it will be checked daily. Additionally, if you have questions, you can reach licensure staff via email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by telephone at (775) 687-9115 for the Carson City office and (702) 486-6458 for the Las Vegas office. Callers to the Las Vegas office should select option 0 to skip the menu and reach licensure staff.
The Department’s Carson City office will remain open until further notice. However, we ask that in-person visits to that location be kept to a minimum in accordance with published CDC guidelines for infection control.
Watch for further email updates as the situation evolves. We remain committed to serving Nevada’s educators during these difficult and trying times, and we ask for your understanding and patience until things return to normal.
