Resources for Parents and Families

Nevada is raising its standards to help our students, your children, receive a world-class education and ensure all Nevadans are ready for success in the 21st century. Across the state, schools are implementing new Nevada Academic Content Standards, which include the Common Core State Standards for English language arts and mathematics. Schools will soon start applying new science standards adopted in February 2014.

These new standards are important to not only prepare your child to compete for the jobs of the future with students around the world, but to improve what your child learns and how he learns by teaching effective communication skills, problem solving and critical thinking.

It is important that, as a family member of a student, you understand the Nevada Academic Content Standards so you can help your student succeed. This site will provide parents and families with resources to help your understand what is expected of students.
